The 7 Devils Brewing Company is a small craft brewery on a mission to bring the inspiration of our coastal area to the tap. Walking through our doors should create the same restorative feelings of walking toward the shore. We wish to be a sustainable business that is socially, ethically and environmentally responsible and provides a place where passionate people converge to create a positive environment and inspired products. Our goal is to enhance the community in which we live and succeed financially so that we can provide family wage jobs for creative people in a progressive workplace. With core values of efficiency, ingenuity, pride in craftsmanship, environmental and social responsibility and superior customer service, the 7 Devils Brewing Company is crafting the change we wish to see in the world.

Annie Pollard is the co-brewer and co-owner of the 7 Devils Brewing Co. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in biology and later received a Master of Science degree from UO for her research on marine bird nesting ecology. Her career in ecology has included rehabilitation of endangered songbirds in Hawaii, science education for grade school students in Oregon and Alaska, research on Antarctic penguins, and research on Oregon’s near-shore marine reserves. Her background has lead to a strong commitment to the conservation and restoration of crucial ecosystems both locally and abroad. Annie is an active organizer for the local Surfrider chapter. She is also an artist, working with a diverse array of media including ceramics, oil paint, and textiles and instructs a community ceramics class at SWOCC. She enjoys working in her organic garden, mushroom hunting, and swimming. Her decision to open a brewery in Coos Bay was fueled by a desire to combine science with art and provide local, handcrafted beer to her community. She works with her husband and co-brewer/owner, Carmen Matthews, and they live with their two dogs in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Carmen Matthews is co-owner/ brewer for 7 Devils Brewing Co. along with his wife, Annie Pollard. Brewing and pub culture have become a passion for Carmen since his discovery of the art of craft brewing. With 10 years of home brewing experience, starting a commercial brewery is a dream come true. Carmen began his career in the beverage industry as a barista with Dutch Bros. Coffee in the Coos Bay/North Bend area. With caffeinated vigor, Carmen has taken every opportunity to actively engage in his community with such organizations as the Oregon Coast Music Association, the Surfrider Foundation, Rotary, the Coos Bay Parks commission, and various other non-profit organizations. Volunteering in the community is a common thread that is woven into his philosophy. With his newest project, the 7 Devils Brewing Co., Carmen plans to extend his volunteer involvement, making the business a valuable asset to the non-profit community. The decision to open a brewery in Coos Bay came partly from a desire to have a community meeting place where local artists, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs can mingle to create and share sustainable business goals that reflect and celebrate local culture. Having grown up on the Oregon Coast, Carmen learned very early to love and respect the ocean and his environment and is guided by this to protect and care for the environment. Coming from a surfing/artist family, Carmen learned to appreciate beauty and draw inspiration from his environment. Gardening, surfing, hiking, creating art, playing music, and enjoying wonderful friends and family is how Carmen and his wife, Annie, celebrate the great fortune of living in Coos Bay. Carmen hopes to bring to Coos Bay a successful, sustainable business in which passion drives innovation and art.
